January 2015 Horror Block Unboxing - Spoilers!

Ready for a totally different unboxing that is 100% not beauty related? I hope so because this is my Unboxing of the January 2014 Horror Block. Horror Block is a Horror (how many times can I type that?) related subscription box. The box includes four to five horror related items (like a PoP doll) and a t-shirt (male or female in various sizes – your choice) for $19.99 plus shipping (dependent on where you are). Horror Block is a box offered by Nerd Block. They also offer a Nerd Block, Nerd Block Jr. for boys, and a Nerd Block Jr. for girls. Check them out here https://www.nerdblock.com/horror. Again, I pay for this subscription with my own money and I don’t get anything from the link above.

Now onto all the things!

This month’s box contained not one but two t-shirts! I love these t-shirts (I’m a dork). The first is this creepy clown with the caption “Normal People Scare Me’ and this lovely Good Guy shirt (Chucky for those who are unfamiliar). These are very colorful shirts but I will say I’m not that happy with the silkscreen on them. It seems a bit low quality to be honest. I’m not expecting perfection but if it’s a choice between a higher quality black and white shirt or a low quality color shirt – I’d rather have the black and white shirt. I’ll see how these do in the wash but I’m not expecting the images to last. A bit of a disappointment from the quality of the black and white shirts I’ve been receiving.

This Living Dead Dolls Pink Posey figure is awesome. I really love the look of her and her details – all the way down to the little rose. I’m a dork and she’s already on display.

We also got two MadBalls. These are balls that you can bean people with or just display (my dogs want to eat them). Ok, let me go off track for a second. They came in those plastic ball containers. I remember these from childhood where you put a quarter in and then you get a surprise out of the machine. Who the hell made these though? Two adults couldn’t get them apart and we literally had to use a hammer. What kid could open these? I digress.

The two I received were Brain Rot and Deck Head. I like them but like I said they remind me of the 25 cent toys you can get out of a vending machine.

Next we have the Twilight Zone Comic. I love comics but this isn’t a great addition for me.

And last but not least an issue of Rue Morgue which is a magazine about the Horror Genre.

So, this box was just OK. I’m really thinking of canceling my subscription because I pay $29.99 with shipping for my box and I’m not seeing the value. I do love the idea of a Horror themed subscription box but I just don’t see how this box comes close to being worth $29.99.

November 2014 Horror Block Unboxing and Review. Spoilers!

Sweet Korean Baby Jebus – I am in love with my November Horror Block. No, seriously I’d marry it if I could! We had a few clues about what was going to be in this box. So, I knew we were going to get things related to NBC’s show Hannibal and something from The Nightmare on Elm Street. I love the show Hannibal and The Nightmare on Elm Street is one of my favorite horror movies. I was expecting maybe a small doll or some such but MAN was I wrong and so happy that I was.

For those of you who don’t know Horror Block is a monthly subscription service that sends you horror related items (please tell me Horror Block gave that away). It ships from Canada but they do ship internationally. The service is 19.99 (plus shipping if international) per month. They also have other blocks such as Nerd Block, Arcade Block, and Nerd Block Jr’s for both girls and boys. Check them out here

I also want to make clear that I buy this box with my own money and my opinions are my own. Also, if you click on the above link I don’t get anything for it. Now, on to the box!

I didn’t take a photo of the outside of the box because a) it’s a box b) I forgot c) I may or may have not ripped it open.

First thing of course is the t-shirt. I was super excited to see this! I love Mads Mikkelsen (the actor who plays Hannibal in the show) and he does such a great job with the character. I think the shirt is worth the price of the box in and of itself.

The next thing I pull out is a Hannibal’s heart stress ball (heart?). Man I could have used this last year – smile. I like it. I don’t know why but I’ve always had a wee bit of an obsession with things you squeeze to relieve stress. HEY HEY get your mind out of the gutter I’m doing a review here…

I had no idea what this was at first. Well, I thought it was a just a Godzilla toy but it’s actually a climbing Godzilla that you put on say the wire of your headphones. It’s pretty cute and since I game (don’t judge me you don’t know my life) I have the perfect place for it!

“Another DVD!” Was my first reaction to this Tales from the Crypt Keeper Myth Conceptions DVD. I’m not sure if this is usual (the DVDs) but the past two Horror Blocks have had them and I’m not complaining. This DVD has 8 episodes of a show I’ve never seen. I’m going to watch this tonight!

This makes me laugh so much - first because I know someone who is obsessed with Cthulhu and second because I love hanging car signs. I was laughing so hard I couldn't keep the camera straight (ahem).

I thought we had reached the end of the box until I pulled out this issue of Fangoria. I just recently rediscovered this magazine and I’m glad it’s in this month’s Horror Block also…Darryl. Yes, I’m a fangirl of the show The Walking Dead and Norman Reedus can take me on a motorcycle ride anytime.

I was wrong though this was not the end of the box for behold that under the Fangoria magazine I found things!

First thing I found was Hannibal stickers! Not sure what I’m going to do with these but I love them all the same especially the one with the elk.

Then…this. I am so ridiculously happy about this. This is a 35mm film slide cut from a The Nightmare on Elm Street movie reel. I’m such a dork that they could have sent me this in a box and I would have been like “Worth it”. I…have no more words.

This month’s Horror Box really blew it out of the water for me. Any of my subscription boxes could be cut at any time because I personally buy them and my money is important (think of it as the Hunger Games but with boxes instead of children). Horror Block is not losing me as a subscriber anytime soon.

(Spoilers) October Horror Block Unboxing and Review

If you have not received your October Horror Block you should stop reading this post now.

OK, for the rest of you this is my first Horror Block and it's the October box! For those of you who don't know Horror Block is a monthly subscription service that includes a t-shirt (you set the size when you subscribe) and 4-6 horror related toys, collectibles, or something else epic! The price is $19.99 for the horror block plus shipping. They are associated with Nerd Block and there are different subscriptions you can choose from if Horror is not your thing. Also, this is my own personal subscription which means I pay for it with my own money (smile).

Check out Nerd Block here:  https://www.nerdblock.com/

I was so excited to receive this box and my expectations were super high. I stumbled upon this service watching unboxing videos on YouTube. More specifically I was watching Subscriptionboxmom12. She has a ton of unboxing videos and I love that she gets to the point and doesn't ramble on for 40 minutes about how pretty the box is. Check her out on her YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/Subscriptionboxmom12.

If you haven't seen the Horror Block Box before this is what it looks like when it's shipped (carefully paced thumb to hide address).

This is the contents of the box. I have to say as SOON as I opened it I was excited. I could not contain myself. I am such a horror fan and just looking at the t-shirt drove me over the edge. I love this t-shirt with Jason on it. I cannot wait to rock this.

The second item I pulled out was this Build Your Own Zombie box. I love this so much. One I cannot wait to put a zombie together. I love to do artsy fartsy things so I'm really excited to tear into this.

It includes two tubs of clay. One is green (left) and the second has all the other colors you would need to make your zombie (red, white and black). I'll make mine soon and show all of you how it came out!

The next item in the box I was confused about at first. I thought it was some kind of snack product. Then I realized no weirdo they're Cereal Killers stickers from Wax Eye. These are the two sides of the box the stickers came in.

The artwork is great! They remind me of garbage pail kids. The box had two packs of the stickers and I think this is a great item. I'm going to have fun with these too!

THEN I saw this and I was absolutely blown away. It was a Blu-ray DVD of The Puppet Master movie. A BLU-RAY. Being a horror fan I've seen this movie more than once, but I haven't seen it for years and tonight I will watch it again.

This alone was worth the box. A movie, can you believe it? And, we're not done yet. Have you guys seen the movie Trick 'r Treat? If not you really should. It's a collection of various short horror stories that all tie in together. I own it I love it that much. You can imagine my excitement when the next item was this - a toy from the movie!

I am so ridiculously happy I received Sam. I won't ruin the movie for you but if you have seen it then you all know who Sam is. Sam probably haunts your dreams.

The last item in my box was a Fangoria magazine. I use to read this magazine a lot when I was younger but I haven't picked it up in a while. I am really looking forward to reading this and rekindling my love affair with the magazine.

I cannot believe how much I like this box. They blew it out of the water for October and I cannot wait to see what is going to be in my November box.
