"Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for." - Bob Marley

What do people think about that quote? Do you think it's correct that everyone we come across will hurt us we just have to be able to find the people who are worth it?

When I get hurt I try to figure out how I contributed to the situation. I'm not saying that I blame myself but I want to know what to do to try my best to avoid it in the future. At times, even if I don't want to admit it, I know it's 100% my fault.

I've found that if I like someone or love them, I am willing to put up with much more. I have to admit I have a short tolerance for things. I might be difficult and stubborn but hey that's me. I am less tolerant now because of things such as my MS diagnosis and the death of my father.

I don't think I keep anyone around who I believe is hurting me purposefully. I do think there is a difference between getting hurt because of misunderstandings and someone doing something to hurt you directly. I don't keep the second kind of person around long, I hope  (smile).

Now like previous blog this is not an excuse. After someone tells you it hurts them if you do X and you keep doing it but apologize then now it's gone from "I didn't know" to "I didn't care".

So, yes I think that quote is correct - I suppose you just have to set your own limits.

Halloween!

I'm a Jeannie :)
I'm very tired but I wanted to show everyone what my costume was. Well, at least my head shot lol.

What I enjoy is when people kept gushing about how I looked so different and how beautiful I was. I was thinking...do I look like crap on other days? hahaha

Even if I do I rocked it at work today (smile).

Boys and Girls of Every Age

It's Devils Night! In years past I was out causing trouble but I haven't done that in years (smile). I admit it I love Halloween! In the past few years I have not dressed up or done much. The night usually involves trying to ensure my dog does not go through my front window (tiny people in sparkly weird things creep her out and she thinks she has to protect us) while making sure small children don't have heart attacks on the front lawn from being exposed to the mean "Boxer Doggie". After that insanity subsides I usually watch some horror movies or some all night ghost hunting thing on TV.

This year I'm actually going to dress up. Why is it different this year? This year the place I work really emphasizes dressing up. So, I decide this weekend to get some stuff. In between fighting the crowds for things and getting good makeup to plaster on my face (If I don't get good makeup I'll look like a horror show for weeks to come), I realized that I'm actually excited to dress up!

I'm not sure why but I am excited. I can't wait to see what the boy is going for his Halloween costume. Although he told me all about it and I'll see it tomorrow night, I'm still excited to see it! I'm also curious to see what everyone at work is going to wear.

I'm not sure if I'm getting my fun back or if I'm better because it's been a few years since my fathers passing and my MS diagnosis. Whatever the reason I am enjoying my holiday again and I wonder what Christmas is going to be like! (smile)

This to do on a Slow Day at Work

Take a Nap

You can take a nap in many places at work! The most straightforward place to take a nap would be in your chair. The problem with this option is that many people can see you if you have a cube (if you have an office this does not apply). Under-the-desk sleeping is trite and uncomfortable. The best place to nap at work is in the bathroom! Plop yourself on a seat and just lean into the wall! Tada! Nap-time can commence.

This also solves the problem of someone seeing you. If anyone comes looking for you in the bathroom they either have some personal problems that should be addressed by HR or you’re the president of the United States. If you are the President, I say you schedule in naptime.

Marshmallow Painting (aka Mallography)

This is a new art form that was invented by coworkers and me. See, I have a marshmallow shooter. However, it makes a very loud noise and we thought that maybe if we shot someone in the face at 40feet/min even if it was a fluffy marshmallow, that it might hurt them. My friend Ada Mant started it with the Death Mark Mallow. As you can see the collection has grown.

The art of Mallow Painting is called mallography and I am the chief mallographer here.

Rip Van Winkette (thats me)

Once in a great while my MS likes to pop out of nowhere and slap the shit out of me. It does this to remind me that it’s there. Not that I don’t think about it every day as I’m jabbing a needle into my tummy but sometimes like a jealous dog, it wants to make sure I really know it's still there.

Last weekend a group of friends and I threw a baby shower for our awesome friend Squishy! Unfortunately, it was 100 degrees where we were and I spent eight hours there so I got overheated. I run and get very hot but I’m able to cool down pretty quickly. I guess the extended overheating really got to me because I think I slept three days straight.

I went to work for the first part of the week but spent most of Thursday Friday and Saturday asleep. I got up to eat and use the facilities before going right back to sleep. Today is the first day I’ve woken up and been able to function normally. I also promptly went for a jog and went shopping (smile). I feel good though still and cold showers do wonders for cooling down and the skin. Hehe

This brings me to a new theory about Rip Van Winkle. He wasn’t bewitched - he had MS!

Feeling Very Asian

I'm feeling very "Asian" today. I bet you're thinking "Since you are Asian... don't you feel Asian every day?" or maybe something like "What does an Asian feel like?". Well my friends I will tell you. ..

While it's true I am Asian, I don't think about it every day. I'm not constantly thinking of Korean ways to do things, how Korean I am, or how Korean people are the best people in the world. Well... maybe that last one, but I digress.

I bought a pair of prescription sunglasses last week. They arrived yesterday. Love them woo hoo! I drive to work with them and realize they might not be polarized like I asked (It's ok it was taken care of).

Well, because of this I go on to the Oakley website just to look around. (HOLDING UP HAND) Yes I know expensive, but I work hard and have few things I buy for myself. If I want to spend the money on prescription sunglasses I will.. SHHHH Don't judge!

I'm looking around and I see this little link that says "Also available in Asian Fit"...... Hm.... WTF Is Asian fit?

So, since I 'am' Asian and it says "Asian" I click on it....

Huh... well look at that. Did you know that Asians have flatter noses thus making the fit of some glasses hard? Their heads are also shaped differently etc etc. (I won't go into Asian head anatomy) I did not realize this. Oakley, being the cool company they are, recognizes that Asians have different sun glass needs and modifies their sunglasses to accommodate for that.....

Now, let me share a little personal stuff here. I have always attributed the fact that my cheeks touch my glasses and that it's a little snug on the sides, to the fact that I have a fat head. Yes yes I was resigned to the fact that my fat head made it hard to get sunglasses BUT I DON'T HAVE A FAT HEAD! I have an ASIAN head!!

To make a longer story a little longer... The nice people at my eyeglass place took them back and are ordering me polarized Asian fit Oakleys WOOO HOO! Oakley will have my Business FOREVER.

This quote from Margaret Cho is all that much funnier now...

"But he was telling me that I really don't have a fat body and I know I don't have a fat body, I just have a really big head. And I don't know how I'm gonna lose weight in my head. What kind of crunches do I have to do?! "

...... and that is why I'm feeling very Asian today.

Jesse James leaves… I DON’T GIVE A SHIT!!

Listen… I put up with most of the garbage that passes for news. I usually do not even listen to the local news. I avoid it in order to limit my exposure to dumb people doing dumb things. I DO NOT want to hear about or read about how a made up important person is not marrying another made up important person. I do not give a shit. I am sure something more important is happening in OUR WORLD that trumps these two idiots.

No one should care about my little personal life and I sure as hell don’t want to hear about some idiots not getting married. ALL. DAY. LONG.

Would people please get a grip and focus on what is important?! I know that’s not happening and I know that pseudo important people will always be around but if people would stop focusing on stuff that means absolutely nothing, and focus on the important parts of life, maybe we would not be in the state we are in now.

Just saying…
